Dear All

I write to you with some great news.

As you all may know Wymering Manor will stop being leased by the Youth Hostel Association in March 2006. This was going to mean the loss of a fantastic house for investigations.

Here's the update :)

An historical society has been given a six month lease to raise funds to look at the viability of restoring the manor to its once great grandeur and we need your help.

This means Wymering Manor - Hampshires Most Haunted House is now available for paranormal investigations on the following dates:

Every Friday and Saturday Night from April to September!!

As we desperatley need to raise funds the price increase will be an additional £2.00 per head meaning it is now £20.00 per head...your view on this cost is appreciated, with a minimum of 10 persons attending, minimum hiring fee £200.00

We are also able to discuss company discounts for ghost hunting groups running it as a business

We are planning to sign, everything being well, contracts in March sometime so we are taking bookings now for April through to September....get in fast!

If you want to make a booking contact me without delay :)

General : Hotel offers room's with a boo!

Posted by Founder on 11-Feb-2006 22:47 (1917 reads)

Ghost hunters in Bristol have declared a 244-year-old hotel in Brislington officially haunted. Guests at Arnos Manor Hotel, in Bath Road, get more than they bargain for when they check in for the night.

Ghostly figures can be seen climbing non-existent stairs, baths fill up with steaming hot water, guests are pinned to their beds and toiletries are thrown through the air. In 2004, one guest was so terrified by a feeling of having his chest crushed that he took his duvet, fled the bedroom and slept in the hotel chapel.

Now a team of paranormal investigators have declared the hotel as being officially haunted. They have even presented staff at the hotel with a certificate to prove it. The team of 15 ghost hunters spent the night at the hotel and recorded a number of mysterious and ghostly-goings on, including temperature drops, ghostly apparitions and people feeling as though they were being pushed in the back.

One ghost hunter, Wendy Isaacs, of Yate, said: "It was one of the most active ghost hunts we have been on.

"We picked up on the presence of a man dressed in tweed in the bar, a strange feeling of sorrow in the chapel and spirits in two of the hotel bedrooms.

"Even the sceptics among us were left scratching their heads."

Hotel sales manager Garry Milward said the hotel, which has 73 bedrooms, has a long history of spooks. He said: "This is a very old site with quite a history and has had its fair share of ghost sightings.

"Some of our chambermaids wont even go in certain rooms alone.

"The ghost hunters have confirmed what we always believed was true because strange things have been going on here for quite a long time."

General : EVP Research from the AA-EVP

Posted by Founder on 30-Jan-2006 19:58 (1607 reads)

ELECTRONIC VOICE PHENOMENA, or EVP, is one of the most fascinating areas of ghost research. Human-sounding voices of unknown origin are captured on audio recordings. Ghost hunting groups around the world now routinely include voice recorders as part of their standard equipment for ghost hunts in the hopes of capturing EVP. They are often successful.
For the most part, however, the recordings are as far as they go. Rarely is there any follow-up to determine whose voices they are or where they come from. Are they indeed voices of the dead… or something else?

Today, the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP) is taking EVP research to a new level.

Through scientific experiments, they hope to provide more understanding of this intriguing mystery. I spoke with Tom Butler, Co-Director of AA-EVP, about the group’s work.
When was AA-EVP established and why?

Sarah Estep established the AA-EVP in May of 1982 to, as we say in the : “Provide objective evidence that we survive death in an individual conscious state.”

Lisa [Butler, Co-Director of AA-EVP] began recording for EVP after reading Sarah Estep’s first book, Voices of Eternity, which is now a free PDF download from the book page of AA-EVP. That was in 1987, as I remember. Sarah had run the Association for eighteen years and wanted to retire. So in May of 2000, Sarah dissolved the AA-EVP, sent us the old membership list and we reformed the Association without missing a newsletter. We immediately got the Association on the Internet. We wanted members to be able to share their EVP and discuss the paranormal voices, so we established an email sharing group. So that members could learn from the past, we also set up an online document archive, which now holds the majority of past newsletters.

A discussion board, called the Idea Exchange, was recently added. There, members are able to help one another learn to work with EVP, and share ideas for new techniques. It is just the two of us operating the Association, so we are not able to give one-on-one attention to all five hundred plus members. That is why members helping members is very important. We are thankful for the help of volunteer moderators and regional coordinators, as many members have greatly benefited from their help.

We wrote the book, There is No Death and There are No Dead, as a textbook to introduce EVP to people who are interested in these phenomena in a way that is both interesting and rational.

EVP is showing up in many parts of our culture. For instance, just about all ghost hunting clubs have at least one person using EVP as part of the investigation. Scientists seeking to debunk any form of nonphysical phenomena now include EVP in their comments, albeit usually while ignoring the evidence. The media is more often including some use of EVP in television programs and movies. However, not all of these references to the phenomenal voices are accurate, and we spend more and more of our time trying to counter misleading and nonsensical references with evidence-based explanations. We are determined to let the evidence be our guide, but we are also determined to provide at least one resource for the public to use when trying to determine what that evidence really does show and what something is that just “seems to be true.”

General : Cemetry Goodbye

Posted by Founder on 23-Jan-2006 15:51 (2107 reads)

In April of 2005, I was visiting my local cemetery where my mother is buried. I happened to have my digital voice recorder with me that day, so I thought I'd take a stroll among some of the gravestones. I'd only spent ten minutes there when it started to lightly rain, so I decided to leave before I got too wet. As I was walking out of the cemetery, I jokingly turned around to the graves and said, "Goodbye everybody." It wasn't till I got home and checked the recording that what sounds like a female voice answers back to me, "Goodbye."
