General : Police baffled by Spectral robber!

Posted by Founder on 04-Jun-2006 08:48 (2181 reads)

British police responding to a call about a possible break-in at a pub in northern England Monday found themselves in the middle of a ghoulish riddle.

Officers arrived at the Low Valley Arms pub near Barnsley in South Yorkshire, 400 kilometres north of London, after being told the alarm had been set off, but instead of finding any signs of a robbery, they were faced with a shaken landlord convinced he had encountered a ghost with half a face missing in the ladies washroom.

Although they saw no ghoul-described as a woman in flowing white gown-officers were shocked to find toilets flushing themselves, said Insp. John Bowler of South Yorkshire Police.

Pub landlord Roger Froggat, 55, and his wife Kathryn, 49, moved in a year ago and said they had seen nothing before, despite rumours of a resident spectre.

"I heard the alarm go off for a second time, went into the pub and all the television screens had turned on," the pub owner said.

"I went to check the rest of the pub and standing in the women's lavatories was a woman with half her face missing. I was petrified."

Officers found no signs of forced entry and were left quite scared, Bowler added.

Since the ghost story became public, the pub has become the talk of the town, attracting everyone from mediums to a national television film crew determined to catch a glimpse of the mystery woman should she appear again.

Despite their shock, the Froggats said they have no plans to leave their village pub.

General : Power of the ghost narrative

Posted by Founder on 31-May-2006 11:35 (1661 reads)

The tales and folklore of ghostly haunting stretch across the span of time and recorded history. The debate over the existence of ghosts is far from over. The burden of proof lies not with the ghosts themselves, but with the believers and skeptics that seek them out.

General : Dr Who meets Derek Acorah

Posted by Founder on 24-May-2006 21:07 (2932 reads)

According to numerous resources including TV.com, Degsy (Derek Acorah), will be making an appearance on Dr Who, playing as him self.

The Doctor and Rose return to 2012, and uncover sinister goings-on in suburban England.

Episode Number: 27
Season Num: 2
First Aired: Saturday June 24, 2006

According to SFX.co.uk whom had a statement with Derek Acorah, claim he said:

"I've just filmed Doctor Who. It's a bit of a mickey-take. The Doctor finds that spirits and ghosts have invaded the whole of the galaxy, so he gets me along to see what we can do about it. It's only a small part, but there's a bit of fun to it. I'm there saying, 'I might as well go now, they're all out there and I can't do anything about them. I'm redundant!'"

Derek Acorah's profile from TV.com:

Derek Acorah is one of the UK's most loved Spiritualist Mediums. He was only a child when he had his first experience when his late grandfather visited him. His grandmother was also a Medium and was not surprised that her skills passed onto him.

Derek became a professional footballer playing for Liverpool Football Club, and Australian team USC Lion. Unfortunately, due to a knee injury, he was forced to retire from football and returned to England in the early 1980s. He then became a full time spirit medium based at his home city of Liverpool.

In 1998 Derek was invited into the ISPR (International Society for the Paranormal Research).

Derek has a Spirit Guide called Sam, someone he knew and loved from his past life, who helps him to communicate with spirits.

Derek has a supportive wife, Gwen, who has supported him through his spiritual career. Without her Derek may not be what he is today! Thanks Gwen!

General : Former MH Investigator speaks out on MH Live from Portsmouth

Former MH investigator speaks out on MH Live from Portsmouth

Former Most Haunted guest investigator David Scanlan, first seen on the 1 hour special from Levens Hall and then on the Most Haunted first ever live show from Dudley Castle, has spoken out about MHLive from Portsmouth, David’s home city.

The show on the first night came live from Wymering Manor. This house has not only been constantly investigated by David and his team from The Hampshire Ghost Club for the past four years but it also use to be his home. David said “the mh medium made consistent mistakes in his analysis of the ghosts and then trying to match them upto to specific periods of history when compared to our findings from years worth of investigations”

He added “Mr Wells made comments about the dirty monks who liked to have sex and linked them being there in the manor in the 1500’s, well this is simply untrue as the monks didn’t occupy Wymering Manor until 1858”

David also stated how unbelievable the scenario of the investigation came across as the team experienced feelings of uneasiness and members of the team commented on the menacing feeling of the house.

Mr Scanlan lived at Wymering Manor for nearly five years with his wife and three children and stated that “in all the time we lived there we never had anything horrid happen to us, in fact it was a lovely and welcoming place to live….the mh crew’s perceptions of Wymering Manor are totally wrong in my opinion”

General : Exorcism father commits suicide

Posted by Founder on 23-Apr-2006 12:48 (2184 reads)

A FATHER haunted by the torture and murder of his daughter during an "exorcism" died after setting himself on fire - just days after the sudden death of his wife.

Mohammed Bashir's 20-year-old daughter, Kousar Bashir, died in June 1991 after enduring systematic beatings during an horrific eight-day ritual after Mr Bashir paid two alleged holy men £200 to rid her of "an evil spirit".

Kousar, who had a history of mental illness and had descended into depression after failing her driving test, was diagnosed by holy men Mohammed Bashir (no relation) and Nourani Sayeed as being possessed. They proceeded to beat her to death using a heavy glass ashtray, a walking stick, and Bashir's fists.

An inquest at Oldham magistrates court heard how Mr Bashir, a 56-year-old ex-machine operator of St Thomas Street North, Coppice, near Oldham, never recovered from his daughter's death even after Sayeed was jailed for five years and Bashir for life in March 1992.

Problems

His GP, Dr Kapur, of Werneth Hall Road Surgery, described how Mr Bashir had a long history of depression, mobility problems, heavy drinking and sleeping problems.

Thirteen years after the death of his daughter, his wife was diagnosed with leukaemia, from which she died a month later on April 14, 2005.

Mr Bashir's son, Shazad Bashir, said he last spoke to his father on April 28 - the morning of his death - and was told Mr Bashir was praying for his deceased wife. But, unbeknown to his son, Mr Bashir had asked some children to fill up a nine-litre can full of petrol for him.

His daughter Afshar then saw flames through the kitchen window and dialled 999. Family friend Sarfaz Saleem doused the fire, but by this time a still-conscious Mr Bashir had suffered almost 100 per cent burns.

He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he died that evening.

Coroner Simon Nelson concluded that Mr Bashir had taken his own life while in a state of depression.

General : Poundstretcher ghost.

Posted by Robxx on 16-Apr-2006 12:07 (2664 reads)

After finding the store a mess one morning staff at Poundstretcher on Eastgate Street examined CCTV footage of the night before.

What shocked them was the sight of a ghostly figure of a Victorian woman pushing a whole pallet of goods to the ground....
A bit of research shows that the shop stands on the site of an old Theatre - The Theatre Royal, later known as The Palace. It was first opened in 1791 and closed in 1922.

There have been previous stories of a haunting in the building. One such tale tells of a young woman who, it's said, took her own life, and was found hanging from a piece of theatre equipment beneath the stage.

It's the ghost of this poor woman who staff claim to have captured on camera.

The deputy manageress of Poundstretcher, Sue Cooper, told us it's not the first time she's come into close contact with the apparition. She said, "You can often feel her presence, sometimes you can feel an icy cold. You can feel a gagging or choking, especially downstairs in the cellar."

Monkston Manor Miracle
by Angela Monkston

On the fifth of August, 2005, I was taking a train to my auntie's house to stay for a couple of days. It was a cold day, and I had wrapped up warm, wearing a large coat, scarfs, mittons and the like. I was seated by the window, looking out at factories and decreped buildings. The man next to me turned to me and began telling me about himself, his nephew and his problems being a conducor and tone deaf. I pitied him, I really did, but I just had a magnimious urge to peer out the window, so I did.

And thats when I saw it: a large house, beautifully made and designed in the middle of all this decrepidness. There was a sign I could just make out saying, "Monkston Manor," which was amazing because that is my second name, and there was a person who looked like me in the garden, smiling and waving.

A month later, I had bought the house, and now I wave to each train that passes to say thank you for the miracle.

David Wharmby proclaims to be a medium with a wealth of knowledge within paranormal field of research gained through years of experience.

His Biography (Taken from www.tv.com)

Since an early age David has been fascinated with the World of the Paranormal. Through his life he began to question many strange occurrences he encountered and studied in various Religious factors as well as with other people in this field in the search of finding the answer to questions we so often ask our self on this subject.
With the foundation of an ever growing Paranormal Research Group [ Bassetlaw Ghost Research Group ] David has strived to seek out many of the missing pieces to this puzzle.
He is a mind of information and readily agrees that no one individual or group alone can ever hope to solve the riddle, but he hopes one day that a unification of groups will aid in success.
Through his career David has developed a certain confidence and flair about his passion, which he portrays in the programmes he has presented. These programmes for the BBC and for pilot purposes as a producer show his ability to get across an understanding of what drives his passion.

His main aim in life he says is to hopefully ' Give a Little to Mankind in Some Way '.
